You just need 4 nails, between 2 & 3 mm diameter, at least 40 mm long. Push them - carefully - into the holes on the sides (1 per hole) when you feel resistance push a bit further & firmer. Once all four are in place simply pull the radio out (cassette slot is good for light grip).
When removing the nails use a twist / pull action. As an alternative to the nails you could get an old wire coathangar and a pair of pliers to create your very own removal tool. If you can't figure out what to do from looking at a picture (loads available on internet) then you shouldn't do it. If you're not comfortable with either of the above, then your best bet is just go to your local car audio shop and ask them to do it for you.
You need a stereo removal tool (or you may get away with a screw driver) wat isn't immediately obvious is that where the tool goes in to the stereo there are some screws that need to be removed by using an allen/hex key. Unscrfew these and the rest is as per usual.
* Disable the airbag system * Remove the instrument panel trim plate * Remove the radio retaining screws * Pull out the radio and disconnect the electrical connections and antenna lead * Remove the radio from the instrument panel
Funny I should come across this question today. I have just done this very thing with a radio that was jammed in. I tried removing the glove compartment to get access, but that was of no use, couldn't really get to the back of radio. In the end it was just a big screwdriver and lots of gentle persuasion. The cage is busted now, so will have to find a new one. I assume you know you need a pair of radio removal "keys" to pull the radio out? I got mine from eBay for a couple of quid. These are no good mind, if the radio was installed with a steam hammer. Don't know if this helps, but that's my experience with an Astra Radio.
Try fuse 17, bottom row 2nd from left.
You can remove the radio unit from your 1997 Nova with a flat head screwdriver and a Phillips head screwdriver. You will not need any other tools to complete the task.
Remove the 1993 Toyota decorative radio cover in. Remove the radio retaining screws. Pull the radio out. Remove the wiring harness.
Begin by removing the decorative cover from your 2001 Pontiac Bonneville radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. Slide the radio out and remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable.
look on top of the radio there is a tray. grab the top of the tray and pull out there are clips that hold it together then just let it hang from the wires you will see the radio on brackets then just remove the 4 bolts from the bracket and pull the radio out dont forget to remove the conncetions on the back. once you remove the radio there are 4 screws on each side of the radio that is holding the radio to the bracket. remove those to remove radio from bracket. dont lose those screws your going to need them to install on new radio. any more questions e-mail emezahth@gmail.com
