Disconnect battery negative terminal, drain primary chaincase, remove outer chaincase cover, remove jackshaft end screw, disconnect positive terminal & solenoid terminal from starter, remove two allenhead starter mounting bolts, lift out starter.
To reinstall starter reverse procedure.
you need to remove the left primary case and remove the gear from the end of the starter shaft. then you can remove the mounting bolts and the starter will slide out.
