The following is the procedure for removing the alternator on a Lexus ES330:
Remove or disconnect the following:
§ Negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any other work.
§ Remove two wire harness clamps.
§ Disconnect the alternator connector.
§ Open the terminal clamp.
§ Remove the nut, then disconnect the alternator wire.
§ Loosen mounting bolts to lessen tension of the alternator belt
§ Remove mounting bolts
§ Remove the wiring harness clamp bolt.
To install:
1. Install or connect the following:
§ Wiring harness clamp bracket with bolt
§ Temporarily install mounting bolts
§ Adjust belt with tensioner
§ Tighten mounting bolts to lower mounting bolt 13ft.lbs. (18 Nm) upper 43 ft. lbs.(58 Nm)
§ Alternator wire nut, tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (9.8 Nm)
§ Alternator wire connector
§ Wiring harness clamp
§ Battery negative cable
