Same place as a carburetor equipped beetle, between the dizzy and gen/alternator stand.
The Bell housing on the engines are located in slightly different areas. Thus the Altenator was relocated. The Super Beatle Altenator is 3 bolt, and smaller. HOpe this helps.. Reximus Manning. There are two alternators for Volkswagen Beetles: the Bosch AL82X, and the Motorola abomination they threw on there for a while when Bosch couldn't make enough AL82X to meet VW's needs. They're the same size, so if you've got a 74 SB and a 73 alternator, go ahead and install it Since the sheetmetal is the same between the two, you're fine. (If you were moving an alternator from a 72 to a 74, you'd have to switch the backing plates because VW changed the fan shroud that year, and the backing plates are different.)
1600cc.
I have a 1970 beetle that needs a radio. It looks like it was removed from the inside of the bonnet. The wiring is still under the bonnet. Is your radio broken and are you interested in selling the radio or do you know where I can find a vintage radio for my beetle. I have had no luck for several years. s
The biggest difference is the 74 has energy absorbing bumpers that the 73 is lacking.
try putting a voltage regulator in it. Should help out.
Carbs on VW before 74
I know this applies to the 72, but may be the case for the 74 as well. There is a lever on the left side of the glovebox, pull this and if it's attached it should release the front hood latch. If not, you may have to use some tools to manually release it, which usually works eventually.
Yes. '74 or '75 is when Super's changed to a curved windshield.
No, the super beetle had rack and pinion steering and macpherson stut suspension. The standard had torsion tubes where the steering box mounted. sorry totally different.
The 74 Beetle has two rails in the aft side and a sliding bar in the front center with holes for each settings of the seat adjustment. At the front of the center bar there is a clip in the front of the bar that has to be removed for the seat to slide backwards and out of the rail. The two aft legs have additional clips on the aft side of the sliding rails. Once you remove all three clips hold the seat adjustment lever and move the seat back until the front bar and the two aft legs clear the rails. That work in my 74 super beetle! Good luck.
First check the fuse, then check the bulbs, then check the switch.
