unless you have pretty good experience working on Chevy smallblocks you might consider getting a professional for this. However start by removing the spark plug wires-they will have to be numbered so they can be reinstalled like they come off. Then undo all linkages, any wiring and by all means try to label everything.(very important) fuel lines, hoses, etc.Once you've done this now it really gets tricky, take t the rotor is pointing towards the driver side very front point of the motor or no.1 piston.Take the hold down loose from the intake and pull the distributor straight up.You may have to wiggle it a bit.
Once you've done this undo the intake bolts ,with a little tapping with a wooden block or equal to(not a Hammer or anything metal)and a little prying with a large screwdriver or equal it should come right off.Assembly will be right reverse.
There is 2 of them and they are underneath the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake manifold to replace them are even see them.
Remove intake manifold from top of engine. It's underneath See previous question about location of manifold
if it is a dohc engine then you may have to remove the intake manifold
There are 2 knock sensor on the 5.3L engine. And they are under the intake manifold. To get to them you will have to remove the whole top of the engine- INTAKE MANIFOLD. Why do you think they need replaced???? check engine light came on for 2 sensor
ON 2002 it is on the top right side of the engine between the intake manifold and timing belt housing, will need to remove the intake manifold and radiator to replace. 4 hrs work
It's under the intake manifold, on top of the engine. You have to remove the manifold. Not a difficult job, but does take some time See answer to location of manifold question
at the back of the engine, below the throttle body, to replace, have to remove the intake manifold
remove it, reinstall it. They are all different, Be Clear.
Remove the intake manifold retaining bolts from your 1996 Chevy Astro Van. Remove the manifold gasket and clean the surface. Reverse the process to install the new intake manifold gasket.
un bolt the intake and remove it form the engine unplug all the wireing and remove the fuel rail
this is crazy as hell but,the starter is under the intake manifold directly in the center of the motor.so remove intake manifold and then remove and replace starter.not hard ,just time consuming.
No you do not. It will unscreew out of the back of the engine block. And yes it is very hard to get to. But not as hard as pulling the intake.
