I agree with the diagnosis below, the very best product I have ever tried is a spray on wipe off cleaner called Power Blue water line & tile cleaner, you can buy on line @ www.buypowerblue.com.
Happy Cleaning!
The black ring is likely caused from body oils, suntan products, or other proteins. My pool guy carries a product called First Aid for pools. It is a protein based liquid that breaks down proteins. You can use it directly on the ring, I have some in a spray bottle and a soft scrubber. I have a vinyl liner in an inground pool. You can also add "First Aid" to the pool water to help prevent the proteins from adhering to the liner. Clarifier also helps. Clarifiers cause minute particles to create larger particles that will get caught in the filter. Typicaly when a pool gets cloudy, a clarifier helps clear it up. I have added clarifier after unusasually heavy use (in addition to shock and pH rise).
There is also a product, I think, by Natural Chemistry called Descum applied similarly to above. Used it for years on my tile brush. You also physically have to scrub the water line tile or vinyl liner weekly to keep it off. k
A black water line means that you are not cleaning the walls of the pool at the water line tile (if the pools has tile) ( if no tile then the surface of the pool itself) on a weekly basis. The black is scum. Which is probably overlaid with calcium, dirt, body oils, cosmetics, deodorant etc. There is a special tile cleaner for that purpose - a product called Geyser. Not sure of the spelling. However, the tile soap (gyser) will not remove the black on the first several tries. It may take months to remove that line based upon how long it has been neglected.
If this is at the water line of the pool it sounds like what we call a scum line and can be easily cleaned with a pool product called Tile and Vinyl cleaner which you spray on and then wipe off. This works well also for the top of a Vinyl liner that is supposed to be white but usually has some mold right at the top where it goes into the coping. Just be careful not to use a hard wired brush or anything abrasive. I have also used Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate (Alkaline Increaser) using a wash cloth or sponge and it cleans the line nicely as well. Hope this helps www.prospectpoolsllc.com/blog or www.prospectpoolsllc.com

The term "fiberglass windows" actually refers to the framing around a window. Typically, these frames are made from wood or vinyl. Fiberglass is becoming more popular because of it's strength and stability. Unlike wood or vinyl, fiberglass is less likely to bow, warp or rot. Fiberglass windows can be found in many home improvement stores as well as on line dealers.
