Remove the belt from your 2005 Chevy Impala water pump. Remove the water return hose. Remove the water pump retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new water pump.

Begin by training the water from your 2003 engine block. Remove the wiring harness from the block heater. Remove the block heater retaining bolts. The block heater will come out. Reverse the process to install your new block heater.
For flowing water, place another block on the 'source block' which will remove any water currently flowing from that block. For a pond or river though, every block is a source block, you just have to fill it in manually, or at least cover the top surface.

On the engine block on the top front just behind the water pump on a machined surface the code will be stamped.
directly above the water pump is an elbow-joint where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine....this is where the thermostat is...........remove the elbow (3 bolts) and it should come right out

The best way to replace the coolant elbow is to remove the water pump and insert the new elbow before inserting the bolts for the water pump. Check that there are no pieces of the old plastic elbow lodged inside. Replace both elbows (if so equipt) at the same time.
