in the gas tank
i HAVE AN 88 JAG AND THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE TANK WAS TO TAKE THE FUEL LINE OFF FROM BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE BY REMOVING 2 CLIPS FROM THE FUEL HOSES COMING FROM THE TANK AND PULLING THE HOSE A LOOSE
in the trunk remove the spare tire
the fuel tank crossover valve is located in the trunk area in the spare tire well the easiest thing to do is to get a t fitting and remove the valve and install the fitting instead of replacing the valve
You have to remove the fuel tank. Access port for "in tank" pump is directly on top. Cannot access through parcel shelf. Fuel line connections are underneath vehicle, above differential. Best to let a shop with a lift handle it.
You have to Jack up the car, and reach above the rear end , remove the 2 clips holding the fuel lines and give them a slight twist and pull. This will remove the hoses. Then you will have to remove the hoses and straps and wiring in the trunk, in order to remove the tank.

You have to remove the fuel tank. The pump is inside the tank in a plastic mount. Its about a 4 hour job in and out.
