Ordinarily stain molecules are removed in one (or a combination) of these 3 ways: 1. Dissolved and carried away in a water/detergent mixture. 2. Cut into smaller fragments by the stain remover and then carried away. 3. Strongly bonded stain molecules may require a non-aqueous (non water based) strong solvent such as dry cleaning fluid. A more detailed explanation is at the following source http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/chem00/chem00229.htm Most modern detergants and stain removers use enzymes to remove organic stains and bleaching chemicals to remove non-organic stains.
I was looking online for answers to this question because I had a white heat mark on my teak dining table. The answer I saw the most was use a steam iron with a white cloth. Doesn't make sence but lots of testimonials that it works- for some reason the steam and heat remove the stain caused by steam and heat. How to remove a carpet stain would depend upon what the stain is. The best way to remove a red wine stain is actually to pour white wine onto it and then blot it up.
Start from the outside of the stain and work your way in, being careful not to spread the stain onto other areas of the carpet. If you can still see the Kool-Aid stain, mix 2 cups of water with 1 cup of white vinegar.Using this white vinegar solution and a clean white cloth
