Ignition switch and lock cylinder removal 1988 Dodge Ram 50.Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.Remove the steering column cover to gain access to the ignition switch/lock cylinder.Using wire cutters, remove the cable band.Remove the bolts that hold the ignition switch/lock cylinder to the steering column.Unbolt and remove the key reminder switch and remove the switch lock cylinder from the steering column.
Remove the covers to the steering column, then use a small screw driver and push in tab on bottom of cylinder with key in run position and pull out.

Disconnect the battery and wait at least 2 minutes. Place the key in the RUN position and through the hole in the lower shroud press the lock cylinder retaining tab and remove the key cylinder. Then remove the steering column shrouds, remove the electrical connectors and the ignition mounting screw.
A retaining clip holds the ignition switch in place on the back of the ignition cylinder on your 2000 Dodge Ram.
You will have to destroy the old one to remove, possible by drilling straight through it.
Grab and twist to the left... DONE!

You will need to remove the retaining ring at the top of your 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan ignition switch. Slide the ignition switch out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
