you must remove all the trunk carpet and under the back window you will see the tank remove the two straps vaccum lines and hoses then lift the car and remove the fuel lunes then the tank should come loose
Try using tools...if that doesn't work, crowbar
i HAVE AN 88 JAG AND THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE TANK WAS TO TAKE THE FUEL LINE OFF FROM BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE BY REMOVING 2 CLIPS FROM THE FUEL HOSES COMING FROM THE TANK AND PULLING THE HOSE A LOOSE

You have to remove the fuel tank. Access port for "in tank" pump is directly on top. Cannot access through parcel shelf. Fuel line connections are underneath vehicle, above differential. Best to let a shop with a lift handle it.
the fuel tank crossover valve is located in the trunk area in the spare tire well the easiest thing to do is to get a t fitting and remove the valve and install the fitting instead of replacing the valve
