Their should only be two bolts holding it in. If you want to remove the oil cooler lines and thus not use the oil cooler system at all you must do the following and not put plugs into the inlet and outlet ports. Diconnected the two oil lines, remove the oil filter adapter. Install the proper oil pressure regulator ( a dealer part) onto the block where the oil filter swrews on. If you only plug the ports in the original oil cooler adapter you will starve the engine of oil pressure since the oil flow will be blocked off. Required adapter GM #3952301 and the gasket GM #31028280.

How do you or where can you find a rebuild kit installation guide for an oil filter housing bracket oring and gasket kit I have a 1993 Chevy Suburban with a 35o Engine?

Felpro sells a gasket set for this problem part number ES72671 Remove the oil filter there are two hex screws that are 1/4 inside the housing remove these. You may have to wiggle the housing a little to get it loose. There are also two oil cooler lines running to the housing you can remove both, I only removed the top one. There is a place for the O-Ring on the housing, the gasket goes on top of the housing.

How do i replace oil cooler lines Chevy Blazer 1993 Silverado Full Size 4X4 Blazer?

1)remove cooler lines from radiator (unbolt them carefully) 2)drain as much oil as u can into a bucket/catch can 3)Remove rod shaped brace from upper frame rail to tranny (to allow easier access to lines) 4)remove other end of each line from oil filter housing, by pressing the clips together and pulling on the line. Remaining oil will drain from the housing so be ready to catch it. 5)installation is the reverse

1990 Chevy k1500 with a 350 the oil cooler line is leaking at the filter housing Is it possible to just plug these lines as i don't do any heavy towing and what size plugs?

no i would not recommend that. look closely. that is an adapter that the oil lines come out of. you should be able to remove the adapter and purchase one that does not have the oil cooler lines. dont know where you would get it but there should be one out there somewhere.

How do you remove the engine oil cooler adapter from a 91 350 and reinstall filter without adapter?

I assume you are working on a 350 Chevrolet small block with the factory GM oil to water cooler in the radiator? Why remove the oil cooler? With the engine cold, remove the oil filter from the adapter. Remove the lines from the remote cooler adaptor first. Then look up into the cavity (above where the oil filter screws on) and you will see two bolts. Remove these two bolts and the adaptor will come off. Obtain a regular GM (Chevrolet small block) oil filter adaptor from any non-oil cooler application with the bolts. There are a million places to get these. Bolt the new adaptor in place, screw on a new oil filter and off you go. The factory filter seals against the flat surface of the engine block and the filter now screws onto the oil filter adaptor instead of the cooler adaptor. You may want to remove the oil lines to the radiator and plug the oil cooler openings in the radiator. If the oil cooler is already or begins to leak you will loose coolant through the cooler openings. mlynch003@yahoo.com

How do you remove a engine oilcooler from a small block chvy?

Just take the oil lines loose from the oil filter housing and the radiator. You can leave the radiator open nothing will leak out. Then remove the 2 fittings that screew into the oil filter housing and take them to a hardware store and tell them that you need 2 pipe plugs that are the same size that the fittings are. Then get some plumers tape and rap it around the 2 new plugs and then screew them into the oil filter housing. THATS IT. You now no longer have an oil cooler on your engine.

How can you tell if you have an Engine Oil Cooler on a '93 S10 Blazer?

Look and see if you find one. I just replaced the o-rings and gaskets on my 93 S10 Blazer 4WD, there is a block where the oil filter would normally go and hoses leading up to the remote oil filter location under the air filter housing, the oil filter housing has a cover on the opposite side of the hoses marked oil cooler where an oil cooler hose set would lead to an oil cooler if it had one. I suspect your blazer is like mine and doesn't have an oil cooler. The kit I had to get with the gaskets and o-rings was called an oil cooler repair kit. I have the 4.3 v6 with the cci vortec injection. I was wrong in telling you that my 93 S10 Blazer didn't have an oil cooler, I looked at it again today to help answer another question and found oil cooler lines leading from the remote oil filter housing. They go down which is why I didn't see them when I worked on the lines from the engine. there should be two oil lines running from above the oil filter to the rad, just like an a/t cooling line
