Drain the oil. Take the seat off. Take the battery off and then the battery tray. Then there'll be bolts on the backside of the oil tank...I believe there's two for the oil tank on the backside and then one more at the top near the frame that isn't very easy to get off because its a very tight area. After that its just hose clamps holding it in. The hose clamps are a pain. Take a small pair of needle nose pliers and put one end inside the loop and try bending it that way or by getting under the lip of the end of the clamp. It sounds harder than it is if you have the right tools it just takes time. The hose clamps won't be reusable so you'll need new ones. My bike is currently torn apart at this point and waiting for hoses and clamps. I have a 98 sportster 883
