It goes into the water pump. You remove a plug and screw in the block heater. Between the engine and the firewall. You can get at it from underneath.
If the screw is coming down from the top, you will need to remove the dash and HVAC housing.
It is located near the firewall behind the "convenience center" You will have to remove the lower dash covering on the passenger side. Pull back the carpet from the firewall. It is held in by three screws. I think they are 7mm. Loosen the one closest to you but do not remove it. The screw closest to the firewall is difficult to get to if you remove the easiest screw. I had to use a flexible shaft extension and a universal adapter in order to get the back screw out. Once you have all three screws removed, just pull down on the blower motor and remove it from the housing. Disconnect the wiring connector. By the way, the blower motor switch is located to near the center of the firewall back next to the firewall also. It's held on by 3 screws. I think they are 5/16", but not sure. Four wire connector going to it.

Open both front doors and remove everything between the firewall and the front seat :(
Clockwise to screw in, counterclockwise to remove
Disconnect batt. Drain Raidiator coolant.Remove Dashboard. Unhook both heater hoses located on firewall in engine compartment. remove airbox nuts in engine compartment. remove retaining screw for core in cabin. remove core.
Behind the Engine between the firewall and engine on the transmission.Not easy to remove.
Remove the screw
-remove front seats-remove steering column-remove entire dash-remove heater hoses from engine side of firewall/bulkhead-remove A/C hoses from engine side of firewall/bulkhead-remove nuts holding heater / A/C box (on engine side of firewall/bulkhead)-remove heater / A/C box from cab side of firewall/bulkhead-remove top of heater / A/C box.-replace heater core
its easy you have to remove the interior light its between passenger and driver side under there u can see screw unscrew it whole aerial will come out .............. remove the interior light by pressing in side out with the screw driver from middle part of the plastic then access to the aerial ......
on my 1985 Lincoln town car i had to remove the dash and get back to the firewall and remove a panel on the firewall to get to it. good luck it is a pain.
