IF YOUR RIVIERA HAS A CONSOLE with a floor shift, start by setting the emergency brake, then turn the ignition key to the on position without starting !t then place your foot on the break and shift to 1st gear that way you will have room to get at the clip located on the very front of the knob.it's hard to see but it looks like a staple, all you can see is the face of the clip.use a pick or a small flat head screw driver to pry it out,go slow so you do not mark or rip the knob, remember the clip looks like a staple so pry evenly so it will come out straight.once you dig @ it and pull the clip out you can pull the knob off,do this slowly the spring inside the knob comes out with it.you will go through this if you want to remove the console.when you put the knob back on with the clip still out, press the knob all the way down on the shifter then install clip
