How do you remove a shift knob on a 1998 Chevy S-10 2.2?

Answeryou cant its part of the whole shaftIM UPDATING :)you can actually take the shift knob off. i would say it is easier to take the shifter arm off first by moving the boot down and there is a nut holding it there just loosen it by turning clockwise i think, if not just turn it the other way. with the shifter arm off you would have to actually cut the knob down to the shifter arm itself. there is not really an easier way sad to say. I am about to do this sometime soon with my shift knob.

How do you change the shift knob on a 2002 Chevy S-10?

Hey, i have a 2002 s-10, and it really doesn't come off, not by it self anyways. instead you need to push down the boot and the bottom of the shifter. you will see where you can disconnect the shaft and knob together from there.

How do you remove the shifter knob on a 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ?

Just got thru tearing mine up to see how to remove it. You must gently remove the center cap that has the shift pattern on it. It is held in place by compression fit only so gentle prying with something no harder than what is absolutely necessary to pry it up (strong fingernails?) must be used to keep from scarring it and/or the shifter grip. Once you have the center cap off the rest is easy, you will need a 15 MM deep well socket (or standrad socket with short extension) and ratchet, with it remove the retaining nut that was concealed under the center cap. After removing the retaining nut, simply firmly grip the shift handle and turn counter-clockwise and it should come right off. If you plan to replace the shifter knob with an after-market shift knob you will need to know that the threads are metric, 10 x 150.

Can a 10 speed front derailleur work with a 9 speed chain?

what? there is no such as a 9 speed chain OK, I don't know what this first "answer" was. To start from the beginning: there definitely IS such a thing as a 9-speed chain, just as there are 6-7 speed chains, 8 speed chains, and 10-speed chains. The difference is in the width of the chain: as the number of gears on the cluster goes up, the chain required gets narrower, as the space between gears gets smaller. Short answer: yes, a 10-speed front (or rear) derailleur will work with a 9 speed chain. The 10-speed front derailleur cage is very slightly narrower, so it may be a bit more fiddly in adjustment with the slightly wider 9-speed chain, but it is 100% interchangeable.

How do you change the transfer case on a 1994 Isuzu Trooper?

Manual transmission - built into the transmission Automatic: This is what I did on my 95. 94 should be similar: 1:unscrew xfer shift knob. 2:remove center console - 4 Philips screws near carpet 3:remove ignition lockout cable from shifter (cable that comes from front of shifter assembly). It is on passenger sidt of main shifter mechanism. Compress plastic tangs with needle nose and pull off brass cable end - knda tricky. Do not break plastic tangs. 4: remove electrical connectors from shifter assembly 5:underneath vehicle, disconnect shifter linkage from tranny - should have a wave washer and a clip. You can remove either side - shifter or tranny. 6:remove 4 hex bolts and 2 Philips screws that mount the shifter assemply to hump in floor. Remove shifter assembly. 7:remove 2 bolts that mount xfer case shift lever - note alignment while removing. Remove xfer case shift lever. 8:disconnect front driveshaft from xfer case - DO NOT allow driveshafts to slide apart! 9:remove rear drive shaft from xfer case. Tie front of driveshaft up to chassis to get it out of the way or remove it entirely. 10:loosen bolts that hold xfer case to transmission. 2 are hidden just above transmission mount. 11:slide xfer case rearward to remove. It is awkward and weighs about 100-120 lbs and will kill you if it falls on any vital part of your person. There you go. When installing, replace transmission rear seal and put new grease on xfer shift lever mechanism. Put thin coating of grease on xfer case shaft that goes into transmission. Pay attention to 'rust' pattern of flanges when installing driveshafts. Also grease bolts that mount the shifter assembly to floor. Change fluid as well. Good luck.

How do you remove a shift knob on a 1983 Chevy s-10 2.8?

Most shift knobs remove by turning them counter clockwise( sitting in the truck on the drivers side). Some of these are hard to remove so use steady constant pressure when turning.

If you have 7 visible gears but you have a 10 speed- do you have to get a 10 speed gear shifter?

Some background first: back in the days a 10-speed bike was one that had 5 sprockets and 2 chainwheels, making a total of 10 different gears. Today it's getting more common to talk about the the number of sprockets(which can be up to 11) and the number of chainwheels separately. So today 10-speed could mean either an old school 2x5 or a modern 10x2 or 10x3. So when you are saying that you have 7 visible gears but have a 10-speed I really don't know what you are talking about. One guess is that you have a wheel with 7 sprockets on it that you want to use in a frame that originally had 2x5. That could have a couple of issues: 1) dropout width. An old 2x5 probably have 120 mm dropout width, while a whee with 7 sprockets should be 130 or 135 mm, making for a tight fit. 2) the shifter. For something as old as a 2x5 odds are that you have what's known as a friction shifter, a lever with w/o fixed positions. These levers can deal with just about any number of sprockets, as it's up to the rider to move the gear lever until the chain runs clean. The other alternative is indexed shifting, wher the gear lever move between defined positions where it clicks into place. If this is the case you pretty much must have the matching number of clicks as you have sprockets to get the bike to run and shift cleanly. The weakness of this theory is that you're saying that you have a 10 speed something already, so you should have a 10 speed shifter as well. What it boils down to I guess is that if you have 7 sprockets on the rear wheel that you want to use, then you need to find a 7-speed shifter to go with it. Or you can use a friction shifter, and control it by feel and sound alone.

How do I remove the radio from a 2003 BMW 530i?

You need a "Torx" wrench - Size 10. 1) You remove the knob by pulling it striaght towards you. 2) In the 6 o'clock position (right underneath the remaining knob), there's a slot for the Torx wrench 3) Put the wrench in and turn counter-clockwise and the radio just pops out 4) Slide out and you're done
