Try some WD-40 spray
how do you remove Vicks vapo rub from clothing?
No.
clean the article of clothing
Taking rubbing alchohol to the white mark in your nylon clothing helps remove the white out.
You're talking about "silicone caulk" or "silicone adhesive" which is a form of rubber, correct? If the material has not cured, isopropyl alcohol and naphtha will both remove it. If it HAS cured...bad news, the only way to get THAT off is mechanical - scrape, cut, sand, scour with a scotchbrite pad.
paint thinner
Any hardware store. Just get 100% silicone caulking. 100% silicone caulk will not take paint, but it does have an excellant lifespan.
no
after it has "cured" dried out.
Silicone or latex caulking will it discolor the silver on mirror
Silicone (RTV) caulk is difficult to remove. Popular Mechanics has a useful article at http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_journal/how_to/4213124.html
Silicone is used to make a great, water-proof caulking compound which can also be used as a form of glue. There is also a silicone based lubricant.
Yes you can, but it is a cleaner job if you remove the old caulking (as much as you can) and reseal it with new caulk.
I am using silicone caulking forsealingthis ceiling. The ceiling sealing is going well, so far.
Once you've caulked, leave that room for an hour so dust etc. is not stirred up.
pull it out
I recommend that you caulk around the edges with transparent silicone caulking compound.
