The 1985 Ford Ranger smog pump is located on the firewall in the engine compartment. The smog pump will be on the drivers side of the firewall.

Yes, but you have to have the PCM programmed for the removal. You might fail visual portion of a smog check, however.
Your best bet is to keep the smog pump in the truck. Just take the guts out of it, this will allow the pully to spin freely. Most states require the smog pump for inspection. Thank god it's only a visual.
The smog pump is located under the right front fender, I think you have to remove the tire to reach it. Good luck finding a replacement, if you do let me know, I am looking for one now.
