In order to remover the AC condenser, you have to remove the radiator first. Follow these steps:
1. remove the radiator cap and drain the radiator by loosening the drain cock on the driver's side of the radiator.
2. remove the upper engine mounts and hood latch from the radiator support.
3. remove the support rods that run from the fender wells to the outer ends of the radiator support, above the headlights. The one on the passenger side will simply slide out of the electrical module above the battery.
4. remove the coolant overflow tank and hose and set aside. Remove the air cleaner assembly (the PCM is mounted on top, just remove the two screws and the PCM will swing out of the way).
5. unplug the connector to the radiator fan assembly, then remove the bolts at either end of the top of the radiator that hold the fan assembly to the radiator. Lift the fan assembly straight up to remove, and set aside. You will have to remove the upper radiator hose to gain access. Also, there is a relay on the passenger's side that will need to be moved in order to access that bolt.
6. detach the lower radiator hose and the transmission cooling lines from the radiator on the passenger side. The cooling lines are secured by small wire clips that must be carefully removed. Slide the plastic protectors back on the lines, then use a small pick to pry the clips out (NOTE: these clips will be re-used, so don't break or lose them). When the clips are out, then pull the lines straight out of the fittings. To reinstall, place the clips in the grooves in the fittings so that the three lobes of the clips go through the slots in the fittings. The lines simply slide and click into place.
7. Remove the screws that attach the condenser to the radiator (one on each side). These are about 2/3 down on each side.
8. separate the condenser from the radiator and lift the radiator straight out.
9. if you haven't already drained the a/c system, now is the time to do that. Remove the nut from the a/c line fitting on the driver side and separate the fitting from the condenser.
10. remove the condenser by lifting straight up, as with the radiator.
Note: when re-installing, the lower bolt on the passenger side that secures the condenser to the radiator should be left off in order to reduce stress on the new condenser.
Installation is reverse of the removal procedure. Have the a/c system professionally evacuated and recharged, and you are good to go!
