Well, the transmissions are interchangable, so your good there. But if you put a 3.3l in youll have to change the ECM because they have different settings for the 3.8 and 3.3. So if you change the ECM I think youll be ok. My email is RPplayer73@aol.com
If you mean 3.8 Litre engine, the answer is 200 horsepower, from the factory. 225 lb/ft of torque.
It seems it may have been bad gas. After some gas treatment and an oil change it gradually improved in three or four days and then stopped completly.
haynes repair manuals are good but you can go to autozone.com and they have online repair manuels as well it a good site for a lot of information on repair work.
The 3.8 engine is similar in all the grand prix 97 to 2003 Follow the top radiator hose to the top of the engine, the place it bolts up to should be your themostat. Remove the hose, take the bolts out (usually two) put the new one in with a new gasket and bolt it back together. Remove the cowl assembly. It is easy here is how: Remove the wiper arms and remove the 4 little plastic push pins along the drip rail edge under the hood that hold the plastic cowl cover on. If there is an antenna, unscrew that from the base and pop the cowl cover off. Then remove the 5/16ths screws that hold the cowl pan/wiper motor assembly to the vehicle(I believe there are 10 of them). Lift the cowl pan off while paying attention to unplug the wiper motor connector on the driver's side. You will have to steer it out past the hood hinges. Now you have as much room as you need to do anything you want to behind the engine.
it's located on the firewall right in back of the intake
The mass air flow sensor is located in the throttle body housing on the 3800 engine. There should be 4 screws that hold it down to the housing. Once they screws are removed, the sensor lifts off of the throttle body.
A haynes manual...
3.8 litres is fractionally more than 1 US gallon.
