Remove the plastic cover on top of the camshaft cover (the cover reads VOLVO 24 VALVE. You will need a Torx 24 to remove the fasteners and a 10mm socket to remove the coils above the spark plugs.

The Volvo 960 in the UK is a straight-six 3 litre model. If North American 960's are similar then yes, there is a fuel pump mounted above the fuel tank - it actually fits onto the fuel tank. There's also another fuel pump located beneath the car, just aft of the front passenger seat (driver side in the States ..) in a bracket along with the fuel filter. I have 2 earlier 960's. The oxygen sensor - the lambda is situated on the catalytic converter, which is below the driver seat on a right hand drive car. It has a slight angle to it where it fits into the cat. To change it is quite straightforward.
