its under the back seat
Good news, Toyota was thoughtful when they installed an access pannel under the back seat. Remove the back seat, unscrew access pannel (6 to 8 Phillips head screws) WALA!! JIm
To remove the back seat of a 1998 Toyota Corolla, you will need to remove the carpet to expose the bolts for the seat. Then, loosen the bolts by removing the nuts. You can then remove the seat.
It is located under the back seat. You have to remove the seat and there is an access panel to get to the fuel pump. Also google it on youtube there is a video on how to locate and remove fuel pump.
remove back seat, remove screws bottom and top of panel, remove panel. remove 3 bolts and motor arm, window and regulator will pull out.
fold down the rear seat back, then unbolt it and remove it. Then push the seat belts through the hole in the seat so they are no longer visible. Then you have to perform a random series of jerks, lifts, pushes, cusses and tantrums before the seat will finally pull forward and pop up.
remove the side panels there is one screw on top and one under the back seat remove the seat to get to it, there are tabs on front of the seat pull them to remove the seat and you will see the hydraulic cylinders pull the pin on the top and remove the two bolts on the bottom. don't remove the hoses they will come out just work them around, they will come out
there are bolts in between the cushions where the top and bottom meet. you have to spread them apart to get a good look at them
it is on the back of the seat. remove the seat and remove the black cover on the middle. the pump and the filter are together.
To remove the back seat cushion of a Toyota Echo (any year) simply grasp the seat between the cushion and body of the car and give it a good hard pull straight up. You will have to do this once on each side then again for the middle back of the cushion.
You can get to it by removing the bottom of your back passenger seat, from there it should be quite simple.
