On the passenger side of the engine block near the oil filter. If you have th 4.7 Liter V-8 the oil pressure sending unit is directly above the oil filter on the driver's side. To be able to easily remove the connector, remove the oil filter , On the connector slide the red tab sideways, push down on the plastic tail on the rear of the connector and slide it back. Use a 1 and 1/16 inch DEEP socket to remove the sensor or if you have to, a wrench. You can do this without removing the filter but you will need to remove the connector blindly.
Remove the oil pressure sending unit retaining ring. Remove the wiring harness from the sending unit. Poll the sending unit out of the engine.
The oil pressure sensor on 2002 Jeep 4.7L V8s is located right above the oil filter on the underside of the engine toward the front of the engine on the driver's side. It is easier to get at it if you remove the oil filter first. There is a small red tab on the electrical connector attached to the oil pressure sending unit. That small tab must be slid outward before you can remove the connector and get a socket (you will need a 1 1/16 Deep Socket) on the sending unit to remove it. Depending on how the electrical connector is oriented the easiest way to slide it out may be to use a very small flat blade screwdriver to push it outward. I could not find a torque spec for installing the new sensor, but be careful not to overtighten it. How this helps.
IN THE FUEL TANK. YOU HAVE TO REMOVE OR SLIDE THE CARGO BED BACK TO GET IT OUT.
You need to remove the oil sending unit and install a oil pressure gage in it's place then start engine and read gage. Iwould tell you were the sending unit is but you did not say what you are working on. Remove oil sending unit and replace with a mechanical gauge
the oil pressure switch is located on the back side (intake side) of the block in the middle. It is just a single wire with a cap, not the two wire plug in connector type. There is a knock sensor above the oil pressure switch. To remove it, simply unscrew it. the oil pressure switch is located on the back side (intake side) of the block in the middle. The oil pressure sending unit and the oil sending unit are the same. It is located almost directly under the alternator. Remove the alternator and removal is simple when you have the correct socket.
The ranger has a fuel sending unit inside the gas tank. These are notorious for going out. Only way to change it is to drain and drop the gas tank or remove the bed. The sending units that I have been looking at cost about $100
Remove the fuel sending unit from the fuel tank (the process to do this depends on what your vehicle is), unplug it from the weatherpack connector, install the new unit, plug it back in.
You have to remove the fuel tank. The sending unit is at the top of the fuel tank. Once you have done that remove the fuel lines and the electrical connector that hooks to the sending unit and remove it for the tank. All of this can be a pain if you have never done it before and if there is alot of fuel in it.
Audi A4 1999 1.9TDi Oil pressure light on continously. Engine sounds fine. How do I remove electrical connector to remove switch and check pressure with a gauge?
