It is a real pain. First you have to take the fan shroud off. It clips in 4 slots on the radiator two are snapped in. Pull on the tabs and then push up and remove the fan shroud through the bottom of the car. This will give you access to the radiator. The radiator support has 4 bolts that need to be removed from the bottom. Then it takes some moving around to get it free, the whole radiator slides to the left. It took my friend 3 hours and he is a mechanic, they really bury the radiator on this car. It comes out from the bottom the plastic that you see on top isn't how you remove it.
How do you remove the brake light cover on a ford focus
Remove the plastic cover underneath the radiator(passenger side) to access the radiator drain and you will need a large screwdriver.
On a 2001 Ford Focus : The thread on cap on your engine coolant reservoir is the pressure cap / radiator cap
To drain the radiator in a 2001 Focus, loosen the cap on the top of the radiator overflow tank. Then loosen the lowest radiator hose on the radiator. Drain the antifreeze into a bucket to prevent ground pollution. Be careful, if the engine was recently running. The liquid will be hot.

Radiator Removal: Remove the under cover. Remove the radiator cap, loosen the drain cock, and drain coolant into a container. Remove upper and lower radiator hoses. Disconnect coolant reservoir tank hose. Remove the fresh air duct. When installing fresh air duct, tighten bolts to 89 lb-in (10 N·m). Remove the five shroud bolts. Remove the radiator bracket bolts and lift the radiator upward. Send the entire radiator to a radiator repair shop for repair. :)
change it from the inside
push down on the top metal cover thingy and pull out, super easy
* Disconnect the negative battery cable * Drain the coolant from the radiator and the engine block * On SOHC engines detach the upper radiator hose from the coolant outlet at the intake manifold and the radiator then unbolt the hose clamp at the timing belt cover and remove the radiator hose.Detach the bypass hose from the thermostat cover * On DOHC engines remove the drivebelt and the idler pulley bracket. Also remove the lower radiator hose and the water pump drain plug from the side of the block which faces the front of the car * Remove the thermostat cover from the engine.Be prepared for some coolant to spill * Remove the thermostat noting the direction in which it was installed and remove the thermostat
