The plastic piece surrounding the radio has four screws holding it. Two just above the controls for heater/fan, one when you open the glovebox, and one in the same position as the glovebox one on the other side (drivers side). Sorry, but it's a bit hard to explain in words. You'll need to crouch down and look up for the screws, they're out of sight, mounted in the bottom parts of the plastic. After the four screws are removed, use a flat screwdriver in the two vents above the radio to pry them down away from the dashboard, and the whole piece will lift out. Oh, just remember to take the knobs off the radio if it's stock, and the knobs off the heater controls before you start, or they'll be flying across the car when you pull the plastic surrounding out.

The mitsubishi eclipse has never had a bose stereo your 01 gs came with an infinity stereo, if your car does have one it is because it is aftermarket. To remove it you simply take the 2 screws at the bottom of the face plate that covers the heating and radio then remove the 2 or four depending how big your stereo is and pull it out.

remove the dashboard face then you should beable to remove and put in your new stereo u may have to take out the heater cointroll unit to get do that

the panel around the stereo pops off. You can do it by hand or use a flat head screwdriver.
remove heater bezzel (remove knobs and remove two Philips screws.) just pull out, do not remove. then unclip and remove stereo bezzel.

remove the cup holder and ashtray assemly ther are two small screws facing upwards remove them and it will come out There're more! Unplug the light of the trash tray, remove tray. Loosen two upward BOLTs at the back. Draw the stereo partially, then fully remove the bolts with hand. Afterwards, remove the stereo.
