How do you remove the factory stereo from a 1996 Ford Mustang?

You can buy "radio removal tools" from a parts store. They look like big steel U's that fit into the holes on either side of the radio face. By putting these tools into those holes, clips are disengaged and the radio can be removed...

You can also use wire coat hangers to make the tool yourself just bend a u shape in the wire and shove them into the holes on the sides of the Head Unit

To remove the factory stereo on 1996 dodge ram 1500 you need to pop the hood on the Ram and remove the ashtray. Slide the stereo out of the dash and unplug the cables from the back of the stereo.

You need to remove the wiring harness of the stereo and pull it out. It is fairly easy to replace this with something more advanced.
