carefully pry up on the boot around the shifter disconnect the wires then take the box out of the console and there under the box should be the bolts to remove the complete console
There are screws going through the bottom into the floor, should be about 6 in the front, middle, and back of the inside of the console.

Your connector is located on passenger side of car on center console near floor behind a removable panel usually made of a softer material just under dash and console should remove easily.
You need to remove dash to floor console. You will need a 7mm socket or nut driver to remove bolts. Then core should be visible. The hardest part of the job are the hoses at the firewall and getting to them!
If I remember correctly, you really can't, it's part of the console so the whole console has to be changed.
