How do you remove the fuel pump located in the top of the tank?

You will need a flat bit screw driver and a hammer. There are tabs on the ring around where the fuel lines and electrical wires go into the tank, use the screw driver against the tabs and knock the tab to the side by tapping the screw driver. This will cause the ring to move, keep doing this until the ring has turn to the openings and then lift the fuel pump out very carefully.

Follow the instructions- but always start with the right materials and plenty of time.Take the precautions very serious- you are dealing literally with fire- fuel is toxic, harmful and flamable.

The reason for the above is because you must have a plan and use references as much as possible.

Some fuel pumps can be accessed by removing the back seat of your car (as is the case for a 1997 infinity qx4). You won't need a hammer. But you will need a screwdriver.
