IT IS NOT NECESSARY WITH THIS METHOD.

This is much quicker than any other method.
It is at the rear of the headlamp assembly where the wires are.
ou have to remove the headlight assembly by removing the two screws on top and pull out the assembly. The screws will be long. After you remove the headlight assembly there is two sets of wires one for your turn signal and one for your headlight grab a hold of the headlight up close to the assembly and turn it. when you have turned it enough it should be able to come out then you put the new bulb in and reinstall everything.
Open hood unscrew 2 headlight mounting screws remove healight assembly unplug electical connector turn bulb assembly remove bulb reverse installation.
you go in from the backside of the headlight assembly (under hood) it come out similar to the way we used to change tail light bulbs
It is built into the headlight switch.
First, you will need a t-27 star screwdriver. Remove the screws that hold in the turn signal bezel. Then remove the screws that hold in the headlight assembly. Locate the 3 wire plug that connects to the headlight. Remove this plug. Remove the bulb from the headlight assembly. Do not twist the assembly, because there is a line-up nouch built in to the assembly. Replace the defective bulb, being extremely careful not to touch the bulb with your fingers. The oil on your hands will cause a hot spot and may cause the bulb to explode. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Are you changing the headlight bulb, or the entire headlight assembly? Either way it would be much easier and time saving to go to your local autoparts store and pick up a HAYNES guide which has complete instructions and pictures.
You have to replace the entire headlight assembly not just the cover.
remove the battery or the storage box to see the screws that need to be removed,or remove the grille to see the complete headlight setup If it is like the 1999 Suburban, there are 2 hex shaped rods comming out of the top of the headlamp assembly. You can see these above the headlight after opening the hood. Just use a small socket (5/16" I believe) and unscrew these 2 rods and the headlight assembly can be removed (it drops out of the front) thereby exposing the headlight bulbs... . Correct - the 1996 is exactly as described for the 1999. I did it; it took less than 10 mintues to do both headlights. You may want to get a full set of four and do the high beams at the same time. No extra work, but they are different bulbs. The small socket should be 3/16".
No, they are part of the headlight assembly.
Under the hood right above the head lamp are 2 torx screws - 1 on each side. Remove each screw then pull the entire headlamp assembly out. Twist and pull the bulb sockets to remove them.
There ain't one
