you need to remove grille first before you can remove headlights and then there are four bolts to remove headlights it takes about one hour to do this job and have fun.

After you take the headlight out, remove the metal clips holding the lens on. The lens has to be pried off because there is silicone there to keep it together

The lenses are not removable from the headlights. They are one assembly.

I detail headlights at used car dealerships and I have restored many Dodge Intrepids and other Chryslers. The dirt and yellow haze is on the outside and to clean it, I use a product called CrystaLenz. This product works really well and you DO NOT have to remove the lens or use any special tools. The headlight is an assembly, the outer lens does not come off.

User Avatar

The headlights and taillights are assemblies. The lenses do not come apart.

User Avatar

The lens is only available as the whole fog lamp. You have to remove the bumper to replace it.

If the damage is on the outside of the lens and you have never noticed any condensation or wettness inside the headlight this is an easy fix. The 97 dodge stratus should have plastic headlights if it does then you can get them retored or restore them yourself pretty easily by just going to headlightsolution.net they specialize in restoring plastic headlights, I owned a 2001 dodge intrepid with horrible yellow headlights i tried this company now they look brand new and i can see at night once again. Good luck.

you have to drop the tailgate and remove the two screws on the side of the taillight lens.

If it is on the outside, you can clean the light with any window cleaner. If it is on the inside of the light, you need to replace the light. You can buff it out. Go to any parts store and ask for a product that is used just for this purpose. You do not have to replace the lens.

lens cover is very hard to pull off, I don't want to break it, is there somethind I am doing wrong?

User Avatar

remove the two light lens be careful not to break them. then remove the two torx screws behind the lens. give a slight pull down on the front of the console to remove the two clips and you are done.

User Avatar

The headlights are sealed units, unfortunately they do cloud over a bit with age. Try a cut and polish on the outside of the lens to clean them up a bit, but you would have to go to a plastic welder or similar to get them to remove the housing, and even then, cleaning them may not remove the cloudy effect.

User Avatar

You would have to removed the housing from the car and access the inside through the bulb socket holes. If there is moisture, the seals need replacing of the housing is damaged.

User Avatar

Remove the bulb/wire going into the back of lens from under the hood. Then look close around the lens and there is one screw you must remove then the complete lens will slide out moving it foward. Pay close attention when replacing there is a track/grove the new lens must slide into. Good Luck..

Factory installed HID headlights are legal in all 50 states. Aftermarket kits the majority of the time are not unless you replace the reflector lens housings with projector lens housings.

User Avatar

To replace the under the hood bulb on a 2002 Dodge Ram it is always recommended that you first remove the negative terminal on your battery. Between the lamp base and the lens base there should be a small slot. Insert a small flat screwdriver into the slot. Pry the lamp lens forward (upward) and remove the lens. Then push the bulb terminal inward and twist to release the bulb.

Normally soap and water with a non-scratch clothe. If you actually meant the discoloration and fogging of the plastic capsule lens, there are products available at the parts store to restore lens plastics. Headlights Oxidize and get a thin crust that builds up on them, The crust can be removed very easily with a acrylic lens deoxidier, A deoxidizer will remove the heaviest deposit of oxidation on contact, out performs polish and is non abrasive.

Using Sandpaper on HeadlightsNo you should never use sandpaper on your headlights. Using sandpaper to clean headlights is an archaic, low tech approach to a modern problem.Only someone who does not understand the difference between plastic objects and a plastic refractive lens would consider using something as aggressive as sandpaper on plastic headlights.Sandpaper strips away the surface of the lens along with the factory protective UV coating. You actually have to resurface your headlight when you use sandpaper. And no aftermarket kit or sealer can replace the UV layer to oem specs.Polish is a better solution than Sandpaper but it too can also remove part of the lens surface. A pure liquid Deoxidizer is the best solution for removing oxidation without damaging the lens surface.

1. Oxidation : Naturally occurring opaque coating on the outside of headlight lens Removal , Pittman's liquid deoxidizer is best. No surface damage

Unscrew the grey pannel off of the talilight assembly to gain access to the light bulbs, then the bulbs remove from the pannel by simply pulling them out.

User Avatar

I have a 2005 Grad Prix and to remove my headlights I have to unscrew the two (2) bolts holding the headlight bracket its located on both sides of the front end above the headlight when the hood is open. After unscrewing both bolts lift straight up on the brackets and the pull out the headlights toward you.

# Pop out the light lens with a very small flatblade. Be careful not to damage the lens. # Remove the torx screw that you will see once the lens is removed. (One under each lens). # Pull down on the front to pop the console out of the retaining clips # Disconnect the wires by squeezing the clip on the connector. You may need some needle-nosed pliers for this.
