To change the ignition lock cylinder in a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker, first disarm the air bag system. Then remove the clock spring assembly to be able to remove the old ignition lock cylinder and replace with a new.
The entire ignition switch assembly will unholy from the steering column. The key is required to remove the cylinder from the switch.
Remove the ignition cylinder retaining ring. Poll the ignition cylinder out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition cylinder.
The ignition is removed by taking down the kick panel below the steering wheel. They are a bear to get out. Make sure you have the whole cylinder assembly because they most often break apart when you remove them.
