take tire off then the back bolts on the cailper to of them should be a size 17mm,then mounting bracket 2 bolts, then there should be a little bolt on the rotor you will need a starbit to take it off. if you mess the bolt up you dont need it, the only reason its there is for the assembly line because it a lot eaiser to put every thing together with it there but still easy with it not there
what year?front or back? for the most part , all you do is remove wheel, remove caliper, then pull brake disk off if disk is a rear disk, the park brake is inside the disk and you will need to use a hammer to tap on disk to remove it. once the wheels are off there are only a couple of clips on some of the wheek studs to keep disk in place. the disk is actually held to vehicle with the wheel and lug nuts
yes you can so u can replace them
YES!!!
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the brake pads and hardware. The brake disk will slide off. You might need to tap the disk with a hammer. Reverse the process to install the new brake disc.
Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way, then thread 2 8 mm bolts into the holes provided on the disk. Screw them in and the brake rotor will come off.
remove wheel. if disk brake, knock studs out with a hammer. insert new studs from rear side of disk. use a spacer and wheel nut to pull stud thru disk until seated. then remove wheel nut and spacer. replace wheel if drum brakes you need to remove the brake drum, then proceed same as for disk brakes
Remove the front tires and wheels. Remove the brake assembly. Tap on each rotor disk to loosen them. Slide the rotor disk off. Reverse the process to install the new rotor disk.
Lift the car on a jack, remove the wheel, the brake shoe and disk. Next put on the new brake disc, put the brake shoe where it belongs, put the wheel back on and lower the car to the ground.
The wheel studs are replaced by first removing the tire from the brake. Remove the disk brake pads and caliper if it is the front and remove the brake drum if it is the back. Once you have the brake disk or drum off, simply pound the studs with a heavy hammer and they will pop out the back. if you plan on reusing the studs put the nut on the threads so it is flush with the end and then use hammer as not to ruin threads. Spray WD-40 or heat the brake disk/drum(not the studs) if they are stubborn or rusty.
Remove the tire and wheel from your 1999 Mercury Cougar. Remove the brake spring and the break caliper. The brake pads will come off. Reverse the process to install the new brake pads.
remove front wheel, remove complete brake assembly (2 15 mm bolts) remove brake disk, remove old wheel bearing bolts, 3 13mm bolts from rear side, disconnect antilock brake wire, remove center axle nut, 33mm, tap end of axle to loosen axle from bearing, remove bearing. install new bearing with center axle nut torque 120 lb, 13 mm bolts with 85 lb torque, install brake disk and wheel.
