To remove drive shaft you can do from underneath with out jacking up. First make sure truck has a block behind rear wheel and in front of front wheel so it doesn't roll.
Place in nutral apply emergency brake if it works. You will need 1/2 inch and 9/16 box wrench. The u-joint could be either sise due to standard or heavy duty. The joint are located at the end of drive shaft at rear axle input housing . Take off the 4 nuts on the u-joint strap. Sit aside you will need them for replacement. Next tap the u-joint round ends forward to loosend but do not tap the bolt threads. Use a screw driver if needed to coax them forward. One the drive shaft is loosened lay on ground. Then depending should be split two piece drive shaft go forward to center of truck. There is a hanger holding the front shaft if two piece. The end of the shaft facing backwards has a splined slip yoke that allows the shaft to travel as the rear axle moves up and down on the road. If possible loose round ring on front of yoke allowing rear axle to slide backwards. This usually very tight and some times has to be drive off the slipe grooves front driveline. You may have to take out the front drive shaft if u-joint is bad at back of transmission. You take off front u-joint like the rear one you already did. You must take the center support hanger bearing down to remove front drive shaft. Make sure the rubber is good and is not torn and bearing inside is not set up or loose but turns freely. The reason you placed transmiision in neutral is so you can turn driveshaft and get at front u-joint. If you are replacing u-joint make sure locking ring grooves are clean and go in the groove all the way that they can. When ordering u-joint the parts store must check carefully which u- joint fits . You will need year vin # on dash see through at drivers side and read number special note if H is in the number. You need the model F250 which cab, which engine, which transmission automatic 3 speed or 4 speed, standard manuel 3 speed or 4 speed. They will help you and some stores will install the u-joint with their press if not you will have to pound them out being careful of new ones to not loose any needle bearings, grease well even if they are already.
if the play is in driveshaft, replace u joints. if the play is actually in the diff, remove driveshaft and tighten pinion bearing.

The vehicle needs to be raised and supported by the frame. The u joint at the rear of the driveshaft needs to be removed, as well as the brake lines and abs connections. the rear axle assembly can then be unbolted from the springs and removed.

You have to remove the driveshaft, and with an air impact remove the large nut, there's the seal.
Remove the you joint and driveshaft. Remove the rear end seal plate. Remove the seal and bearing. Reverse the process to install the new seal.
