It's under the rear seat inside the gas tank.
To remove the rear seat from a 1989 Ford Laser 4 door car, first remove the bolts anchoring the rear seat to the floor of the vehicle. Then, lift the bottom portion of the seat from the car. Then, remove the internal bolts from the hatchback or trunk of the car to remove the seat back.

Only if it is fuel injected . Your car must be a automatic , if so . You fold down the rear seat , then fold it forward one more time , then pull back the carpet where it comes together. The access plate to the fuel pump is right there . If it is carb'd , then it is mounted to the rear of the engine block .

The rear seat is not designed to be removed. You can remove the center seat and slide the rear seat forward.
move the rear seat forward and lift carpet out of way ,you will see a door with approx. 4 screws remove and bingo there it is. clean around the area with a vacume ,remove the screws around the sender,and disconnect the wires pull out snder and pump as an assembly
pull fuel pump out ,access cover under rear seat. run hot and groung wires directly to pump from battery.

The rear seat isn't designed to be removed. If you have a center bench seat you can remove that by unclipping it, then slide the rear seat forward.
The rear seat is not intended to be removed. You can remove the center seat and slide the rear on forward into it's place.
