Look at the mirror, and find the retainer screw. Loosen the screw and slide the mirror up, toward the roof of the car.

How do you replace a rear view mirror in an 1999 Intrigue can't get the button off the mirror?

I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The rearview mirror on my car has twin maplights, and on the back it says "Donnelly IE 8012001". I just re-glued my mirror to the windshield after it fell off. Some other cars use a screw to attach the button to the mirror, but this mirror does not. Instead, I used a flat-head screwdriver to pry the button out of the mirror -- be careful to not to hurt yourself or the mirror. After prying the button out, I studied the mirror, and there doesn't appear to be any other way to remove the button. When gluing the button to the windshield, be careful to figure out which side and orientation the button needs to face before gluing it to the windshield.

How do you disassemble the metal bracket on the rear view mirror on an 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue to glue to windshield?

How do you replace the rear view mirror on 1997 ford explorer?

The rear view interior mirror is attached by a black spring clip to a "button" that is glued to the windscreen. To remove the mirror, insert a short flat bladed screwdriver into the slot located at the top juncture of the mirror support/clip assembly and the "button." Pulling the screwdriver forward will cause the spring clip to open allowing the mirror support/clip to separate from the "button." Do not pull on the mirror unduly or be tempted to hammer anything or the windshield will break! Replace the mirror by sliding/working the mirror support/clip from the top of the "button." A slight click may be felt when the mirror reaches the correct location. A small amount of grease on the button may help the support/clip slide over the button. Do not use undue force or a cracked windshield will result!

How do you remove the rearview mirror on a 2000 Celica?

The rear view mirror on a 2000 is glued to the windshield. Very carefully it can be pried loose. It may be necessary to insert a thin wire or razor edge to break the seal.

How do you change a rearview mirror on a 2007 Nissan Frontier?

I recently had to repair the rearview mirror on an '02 Nissan Xterra. It may be different, but perhaps it used the same technique. The mirror is connected to a metal "button" which is glued onto the windshield. In my case the glue had come undone and I had to remove the button from the mirror in order to re-affix it to the window. You can probably get the rearview off the button while still on the windshield in the same way. From the bottom of the housing there's a small notch where you can see the button and a small tab of spring steel. Use a hack saw blade or something else flat and long and slide it in between the tab and the button. Push it in around .75" until you bump up against another spring tab. Continue to push against it and it will release the lock. While pushing on it pull the mirror upwards off the button.

How do you remove the rearview mirror on 98 xk8 convertible?

I've done a lot of research and trials with failure on a 98 XK8 conv. According to my service manager if you try to remove the windshield bracket it usually breaks the windshield, which is why the dealership won't just replace the mirror anymore. In my case, my mirror still works but hangs or wobbles now that it's glued with windshield sealant to the bracket when the connector broke. My plan is to replace the badly sand pitted windshield through insurance and at the same time purchase a new mirror +/- $500 - 15% coupon ($75) = $425 and have the glass company install the whole thing which they do as part of the windshield installation.

How do you remove the metal mount from rear view mirror on 2000 Grand Marquis so mirror can be re glued to windshield?

If you can't remove the metal mount, why would you want to remove it to reglue it back on? Because you might want to place it in a different location, because of height of driver, or in my case , I own a driving school and we have to place another rearview mirror for our instructors. When we sell the cars we must remove the second mirror and the metal(baseplate) . I also would like to know a good way to remove this baseplate

How do you remove glued glass mirrors?

you can remove glued glass mirrors from any sort of wet sponge or you can scrape it off with a scraper. If this doesn't help I would suggest you should go ask a mirror professional.
