No. If your wheel well has trim, you must remove that. Then remove the bolts that mount the fenderwell to the fender (this is not easy). This allows the fenderwell to be pulled back giving you clear access to the power antenna motor. Note that if the antenna is broken or doesn't go up and down anymore, you may be able to fix it by purchasing just a replacement antenna from Toyota. Typically the toothed cable breaks and all that is required is to remove the motor, disassemble the spool holder ( to remove the broken cable) and then install a new antenna.
remove wheel and remove the plastic liner inside the fender. remove the radio and disconnect the antenna wire. Tape another, 10' long wire to the end of the antenna wire. Unscrew the nut around the antenna from on top. pull the antenna and antenna wire out through the fender. Tape the 10' long wire to the new antenna wire and pull it back through the dash to the radio.
REMOVE THE PASENGER FENDER AND IT IS OBVIOUS... NOTHING TECHINCAL.
Could it be the power antenna?
To install a manual antenna on a 1996 Toyota Camry, a hole will have to be drilled into a fender somewhere near a side mirror, if there isn't already one there. The hole should be smaller than the nut that will hold the antenna on. Thread the antenna wire in and connect to the back of the radio, then tighten down the nut to hold the antenna in place.
remove 7 of the 11 screws retaining the wheel well plastic in place (from the left side looking at the wheel) under the fender and push back a little bit the plastic and you will see the power antenna held in place by one screw to the body, don't pull out to far the antenna cable is still hooked to the radio. i know it can be done because I've done it, no problem.
You will have to remove the cover then the radio it self. I believe that the fender needs to come off to replace the base & mast on that model.(I could be mistaken) Then youll need to feed the wire back from the fender to the radio. Put it all back together, but make sure you get the fender in alignment so it doesn't catch the door. I hope i was some help, sorry if i was not.
