First you have to remove the two plastic side tail pieces, then you will find two bolts, one on each side, that fasten the seat to the frame. The seat is now loose.
There are 2 Allen screws under the sides of the seat.

There are two Allen Head bolts, just as the seat breaks for the passenger. Raise the seat cushion and look under there. That's all there is holding the seat to the bike. Use a long Allen Wrench to reach it.

Its under the seat. Take off the side pannels, unscrew the seat and open the battery box.
Take the side fairings off. Remove the seat. It's at the front of the seat pretty well under the tank. it's in the black box you'll see. You'll have to pull down on that to slide the battery out. It's pretty tight though.
Remove the seat and the battery is immediately visible, held down by a strap.
The front and rear seats are a one piece unit. There are two screws (one on each side) just under the junction where the front and rear seats meet. Once they are removed, slide the whole seat to the rear of the bike and lift up.
It fits with stock seat.

Installing a new battery in a Honda Shadow 600 is very easy to do. The battery is located in the seat area, behind the gas tank. Loosen the clamps that are holding the battery in place with a screwdriver. Then take the old battery out and put the new one in.
Remove old spark plugs. Insert new spark plugs..... Simples
