How do you remove the solenoid off the starter of a 1995 Geo Tracker?

Cant on a 91-96 the starter and solenoid are one piece. I assume its that way on all of them. Starter cost around 100 bucks at autozone with a lifetime warrenty

If your speaking of the starter solenoid, it is mounted directly to the starter. The starter would have to be removed in order to replace the solenoid.

safely lift and support right side of vehicle disconnect battery remove mounting bolts remove wires from starter solenoid slide starter from housing Reverse to install




disconnect neg battery cable. from underneath the vehicle,disconnect the solenoid wire and battery cable from the terminals on the starter solenoid. remove the 2 starter motor bolts and remove the starter note the location of of spacer shims if any are equiped. installation is reverse. and be sure to replace the starter shims in the same location between the engine and the starter if your model has one.

Begin by removing the positive cable from your 1995 Saab battery. Remove the cables from the front of the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new starter.


There is no starter relay on an Escort. The main battery positive cable goes directly to the starter. A small wire with a clip on it marked s goes to the solenoid. The main battery current to the starter is supplied with this solenoid.
