This is only a partial answer as I have not yet worked out the wiring.
You need to first remove the approx. 2 ft. long plastic cover which fits around the gear select lever and over the central services hump. To do this. push both front seats forward to access the cross head screws (one on each side of the cover) from the rear passenger well. Now push the seats back. Remove the ashtray and take out the 2 screws underneath it. Now lift the plastic cover from the rear. It will come off without removing anything else (gently does it to avoid cracking lugs at the front end). Unplug the cables going to the gear selector and ash tray lights. Now the whole unit can be removes out of the way, on to the back seat. After this is removed, a further two screws will be revealed securing the bottom of the radio surround. Remove these and the radio surround should come out. Unplug the wires (To rear window heater and hazard switches and cig. lighter) at the back, so you can get it out of the way (and use it later to check the fit of the new radio). Side plates, holding the radio, are now revealed, each with 2 screws. Take out the screws and then slide the radio forward (there are two lugs that line up with slots in the side plates - so pull straight). Disconnect the plugs at the back of the radio to remove it. The side plates need to be carefully fitted to the new radio (It is essential to use the radio surround to make sure the plates are fitted OK and that any front escutcheon will fit (I had to drill a new hole in each side plate and elongate an existing one to get the fit). Connect new radio plug to the existing wiring (this is where I am stuck) and refit all parts in reverse of above removal procedure. Not difficult (apart from working out the wiring). NB take a lot of care not to drop any screws into the central services well - it is good to have a magnet handy to retrieve them if this happens). Guy
Just take out the speakers from the speaker box and make a new box for the speakers if they dont fit.
bash it with a hammer.
