Kenmore washing machine will fill with water and drain off but will not spin water out or wash?
If a Maytag washer fills with water but does not agitate it could a problem with the switch in the lid. There is a switch that locks the lid down during agitation and spinning. The magnet could be defective.

"Kenmore" is a brand name for Sears, not a manufacturer. Your washer was most likely made for Sears by Whirlpool. You can tell by the first 3 digits of the model number, ie: 110.9764882 would be a Whirlpool since "110" is their manufacturer's code. The lid switch is typically just under the top of the cabinet to the right of the opening where you put the clothes in. Make sure the unit is unplugged, then used two butter knives to insert in the front part of the lid...about 2 inches in from the outside corners to raise the lid. ANS 2 - Don't risk making your wife mad by ruining the butter knives ! -try two small pry bars or even flat screwdrivers.
