There are two motors, right and left. The diagram can be seen at the Pontiac dealer parts counter on their computer. It seems fairly simple, and is accessed through the trunk. There is one item to check first. There is a bypass switch that allows you to raise and lower the roof manually in the event of power failure (which conveniently always happens just as the rainstorm starts when you have the top down). Make sure the switch is fully engaged, and has not bypassed the motor(s). List price on the Alldata website (Parts Zone) indicates approx. 800 dollars for a new one. You may want to see if there's an electric motor rebuilder in your area before purchasing a replacement. I'm still working on my '97. I will post more when I have all the answers!

It is behind the rear seat.

You might as well take the motor our, its a pain in the a**. the thermostat is between the motor and the firewall and above the transmission...NOT fun. I replaced mine when I had to rebuild the motor due to a broken writs pin :(
My wife and I purchased a Sebring (1998) that had the same problem. We were told it is the chip in the key. The key needs to be replaced.
To the best of my knowledge, this is no carburetor on any Sunfire. I believe that they were all fuel injected.
replace the pulse board on wiper motor which is a black cover
No.
Take it to your local convertible top repair and have all three windows replaced at the same time with an upgrade to the urethane type (scratch resistant). Typically you'll pay between 750 and 950.

I believe 1995 through 2005 fenders are all the same. Surely a 1996 and 1997 fender will fit a 1998 model.
