Before changing any parts related to the odometer in the 1999 Ford F150, it would be a good idea to rule out the common intermittent odometer problem that is extremely common in these vehicles. Most odometer problems in these vehicles are caused by cracked solder joints on a ribbon cable connector. Full details on the problem and information on repairing it yourself are available at http://www.odometer-repair.com .

This seems to be a problem with F-150 so I broadened my search and found this forum with than answer. There seems to be a bad solder joint on the LDC display of the odometer. This can be fixed by reheating the solder at the crack and letting it re-flow. Here is a link to the instructions and posts about it: http://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=126765&highlight=odometer -Trevor ------------------------------ There's also a lot of additional information and a repair manual at http://www.odometer-repair.com.
