if is not the windsheild is there a drain over there ?
Should be drivers side dash at the bottom of the windshield.
If you look through the windshield from OUTSIDE on the DRIVERS SIDE you will see the VIN plate near the base of the windshield on top of the dash
Remove the 2002 Ford Explorer drivers side inside door panel. The entire window mechanism will be visible. Locate and repair the cause for the window malfunction.
Open the drivers door and on the end of the door ( or the latch pillar ) is an information sticker that includes the VIN or if you look through the front windshield , from outside , there is a metal plate on top of the dash ( at the bottom of the windshield ) on the drivers side that shows the VIN
On a sticker on the end of the drivers door and if you look through the bottom of the windshield on the drivers side ( from outside ) you will see the VIN on a metal plate that is attached to the dash just on the inside of the windshield That's two of the places the VIN is

I was looking at the 1997 Ford Explorer Owner Guide and the washer fluid for the windshield and liftgate are fed from the reservoir in the engine compartment . ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are not 2 reservoirs like I have on my 1995 Ford Explorer where I open my liftgate and above the left taillight is a fill plug for the reservoir behind the access panel in the drivers side of the cargo area where the tire jack is stored
