Well, I had the same problem out of my Mazda... if it is the driver side, check the switches to see if the passenger side works. if from the drivers side switches one window works, and the other does not, you need to replace either the power window motor located in the door, or the switch itself. (But check the fuses under the dash first!) if no blown fuse is visible, then the motor is most likely to blame. I have had 2 mazdas with the same problem. good luck.
Hello, well a year ago I had to fix the passenger side window of my Carina e. It's not easy to do, but the wire has obviously snapped, what I did is went to the local bicycle repair shop and bought some brake cable. One end is soldered, it's tricky to wind, you will have to take the housing apart, problem is the rain flows down the window, and in time, the cable rusts and breaks. There are tracks around the pulley, you should take the old wire and measure the new wire up to it. You will also need a tube of grease to lubricate the housing, if soldering the other end of the wire is not for you, then you could always use an electricians crimping tool. It took me over an hour to get it wired, and there were many disappointments, but it works, and it was a pain in the *** with it not working. Well wire is what's in my car, but I have seen others were a row of teeth and a cog wheel were used to put the window up and down, if that's the case you would need the cogs replaced. So best of luck.
On my 99 Miata passenger door, the window would only go down part way, I took off the inner door panel and found that a small bracket that holds the cable from the motor to the window had broken and thus the cable was just moving back and fourth instead of lowering the window. I used a zip tie to restrain the cable in its original position and the window has been working for two years now.

Anyone have prob w/ sentra power window? Won't go up or down. IF YOUR WINDOW IS NOT MOVING AT ALL(UP OR DOWN) IT IS YOUR MOTOR BUT IF IT IS MOVING EITHER UP OR DOWN, MEANING IT WILL MOVE ONE DIRECTION BUT NOT ANOTHER THEN IT'S YOUR SWITCH

The power window regulator is defective. It is a plastic tape that can be easily replaced.

It is important to keep everything in a car working well. When a power window stops working, it is important to make repair it by replacing the window motor, the blown fuse or the wiring that may be causing the windows to not function. If the window can go down but not up, the power window motor and fuse are working. Check the switch for dirty contacts and/or wiring for damage.
