The tranny ( or transaxle / transmission ) on a 1993 Mercury Tracer is in the engine compartment bolted to the engine on the drivers side of the engine
it's on the firewall on the passenger side. There are (2) side by side.
You can repair a bad ding in your passenger side mirror casing by replacing the passenger side mirror casing. An auto body repair expert can usually repair the original mirror casing, but it will be more expensive than buying the new casing.
On my 1999 Mercury Tracer, the fuel filter is mounted on the firewall. It's on the driver-side, on the passenger-side of the brake cylinder. I don't know how to get my hands in to change it though. Jonathon

On a 1997 Mercury Tracer : The AUTOMATIC transmission fluid dipstick would be on the side of the transmission ( transaxle ) in the area of the brake fluid reservoir . The manual transmission ( transaxle ) does not have a dipstick
The Mercury Tracer heater core can be found behind the passenger side kick plate. The heater core can be removed by disconnecting the water supply lines and removing the retaining bolts.

You cannot and should not disable the air bag.
