Ok we all know this system is run by a 12v electrical motor powered by your battery. First you have to establish if this is mechanical or electrical. With your ignition key on but the car not started hit your window switch and listen for the motor to run. If you can hear this then your problem is mechanical and will require you to remove the door panel and physically inspect the system after you have removed the weather stripping which I highly recommend you replace when done. Many times the mechanical issue is caused by weather and can be fixed with some lubricating spray and manually moving your window around until it becomes free. If the problem is electrical first check your fuses to make sure they are still working and if so take a 12guage or 14guage wire and hook it directly to the positive terminal of the battery. Take the other end and hook it to the power side of the motor for your window. If it comes alive then you have to replace the switch. If not then you have to replace the motor. Make sure to test the new motor in the same way before you put the weather stripping back on to ensure you don't need a new switch as well. Hope this helps. I have to do this to my 98 Aurora today.
96 Trooper how do you repair the electronic window rear passenger?
The switch could be bad at the passenger seat. The switch could be bad at the passenger seat.
I wouls suspect the passenger side switch is defective. Salvage yard is a good source for this part.
Defective passenger power window switch. It is stuck in the down position. Raise the window and immediately disconnect the switch until you can replace it.Defective passenger power window switch. There is only one fuse for all power windows. If only the passenger side window does not work, the problem is either with the passenger window switch or the motor on that window.
How to repair power window in 2000 Ford Ranger passenger window will not work with either drivers button or passenger button the relay does not make any clicking noise either What is wrong?
If you mean the extra switch on the drivers side power window control it cuts power to the passenger side window switch. Handy if you have kids.
Bad relay/window motor/switch/wiring...........
Try swapping it with the driver's side switch
what is the average repair cost to fix an electric window switch motor 2003 jeep
Maybe its your driver-side window regulator that stopped working.
Your switch is bad or the window motor has gone out
Check to see if you are getting power to the motor if so window motor is defective Could be open wire usually in the door jamb area
You have to disconnect the glass from the regulator or clip the regulator cables. Here's howhttp://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/window-power-repair/replace-a-power-window-regulator
I'm currently having the same issue and from what I've gathered over the past week online, it's one of two things. Either the window switch/connection is faulty OR the regulator. Mine happens to be the switch because the driver side switch for the passenger window works fine. Now my problem is if the passenger and driver switch mechanisms are interchangeable when purchasing?
First test to see if the problem is the switch, wiring, or the motor. Here's howhttp://www.ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/repair-topics/window-power-repair/test-power-window-motor-and-regulatorThen replace the regulator if the switch and wiring test good. The question is: Is this the drivers window switch but it opens the passenger side's window? Who was driving or in the driver's seat. You may have spilled enough beer on the arm rest that leaked into the switch and created a corrosive electrical connection for the window motor/
Check the drivers side switch panel for the switch that locks out the passenger windows from working, make sure it is not on.
The passenger window on a windstar is best installed by a professional. However, if you have some auto repair experience, you can easily remove the door panel on the door by removing the screws and then you will be able to install the new window.
I would replace the master window switch
The windows use a switch which is in the door.
Identify the fault/problem. Repair or replace
you need to change the window regulator
First, check to see if you hear anything when you try the window switch, if nothing and the other window works probably the window switch. Could also be the motor but try the switch first, it's a lot cheaper.
i had the samething happen to me , i got on line and ordered a new switch (about 10.00 bucks) very easy to put in .
