Replace the wiper motor assembly. Fairly easy on these-- take off the wiper arms, and the motor is under the hood above the motor. You may need a mirror to see it. Three bolts and the electrical connections later, you can trade it in with some money for a reman part.
Better yet remove the cover, there will be a metal tab that is bent. it is the park tab. bend it back towards the stop lever on wiper arm crank.
If windshield wipers are stuck in position and won't move, I would say that the windshield wiper motor needs replacing. This happened to me last year.
remove complete wiper arn from vehicle so there is only the ribbed drive showing on the outside turn wipers on, then turn them off. this should put the drive at the return position.replace wiper arms with the arms in the home position.this should align them where they should be when turned off test to see if ya got em in right position
1997 gran prix wipe stay in upright possission when shut how to fix
If your car is equipped with rain sensing wipers and the wiper switch is in position I, the wiper will run once at tutrning on the ignition to indicate that the wipers are in rain sensing mode. this is what the documentation for my 2002 E320 says!. Thanks, Vic
It should work with a 20 amp, just not as long. Wipers use a fair amount of current so the factory puts a 30 amp in. Perhaps that particular 20 amp is bad or it blew as soon as you turned the wipers on.
There is a problem with the parking linkage. TAke it to a garage.
replace the wiper motor
The wiper motor has a switch inside of it. When they are turned off and the wipers go to the down position it trips the switch in the motor that tells the computer they are in the down position. If that switch in the motor is faulty, the wipers are repositioning until the switch is tripped to the off position. THE FIX.... Replace the wiper motor.
Replace the windshield wipers.
The motor shaft and the wipers are'nt connected properly(the timing is off), just disconnect the wipers from the motor. Turn your car on and cycle the motor and it should be back at the home position. Pull your wipers back down and reconnect and all should be fine.Thats if you put in a new wipermotor. If not, maybe the wiper switch is bad.
I would suspect the wiper switch is defective. Replace it. Salvage yard is a good source for this part. In the interim, pull the fuse to stop the wipers when they are in the down position.
It is definitely a pin inside the wiper motor that is worn out. I just had mine replaced in my 02 Montana. The pin can be seen by removing the cover from the motor.
yep.

The "park" switch inside the wiper motor assembly has failed.
most likely need to replace wiper motor. they usually have the intermitnant electronic card inside the motor housing and do not usually sell it separate. changing the whole motor box should solve your problem.
A bad pulse board or window wiper motor can cause your wipers to stay in the "up" position.
