You can open your Nissan broken glovebox with a flat head screwdriver. Gently pry outward on the glovebox door. Begin prying outward just above the glovebox door latch.
There are 2 screws on the inside that get removed and pull the latch down.

It might if you clean the glass with alcohol and do the same with the latch buttons. If that doesn't work try 3M double sided sticky tape.
The 1979 Chevy Silverado glove box latch is held in place with two retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws and the glove box latch will come off.
If the glove box will not stay shut, look at the lock mechanism, the hinge and the latch. If either of these is bent, broken or loose, replace it. These are the most common causes.
Remove the three Philips screws along the top and the two on the bottom corners and remove the entire glove box. You can then work on the latch from the back of the latch and easily open the glove compartment by gently prying off the corners of the glove box from the locking pins.

I purchased a used 1999 Chevy Malibu and had to replace the glove box because the latch was broken. I purchased another a the local salvage yard and I want to know how to take the lock out of the old door and install it in the new one.
