depends on what year. for my 2001, in the back cargo area, there are little plastic covers that look like grates. those just snap off and you have access to the tail light bulbs
On a 2008, which is likely similar to many earlier models of same body style, open the liftgate and you'll see 2 bolts holding the lens housing. Remove those and then it snaps out. Pull it out as straight as possible. The outside part of the assembly is held with plastic prongs that go straight in. They come out fairly easily. You'll see all the light sockets on the back of the housing. Turn the socket counter clockwise to remove.

Replace the bulb, had to change one myselfe.
To change the park light on a Subaru Impreza prop the trunk lid open and locate the taillight housing. Remove the plastic cover and the bulbs for the parking lights. Replace the bulbs.
On my Subaru Forester the instrument panel lamps are dimmed by turning a ring on the turn signal stalk.
To replace the parking light bulb on a 2005 Subaru Forester, first, open the hood and locate the back of the headlight assembly. Remove the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise. Pull the old bulb straight out and insert the new bulb into the socket, ensuring it’s secure. Finally, replace the bulb socket back into the assembly and turn it clockwise to secure it.
The transmission doesn't have a light. It functions just fine in the dark.
On my 2000 Forester, the dashboard illumination dimmer control is on the turn signal stalk. --Ken
Not to be unkind - but READ THE MANUAL.
With the proper scan tool.
check the maintenance manual but all you need to do is unhook the power going to the light then take out the rubber linning and unscrew the retaining ring then replace lightbulb
Not necessarily.
You have to remove the console cover. This starts with two screws in the console storage tray.
