Do you mean the electrical ignition switch or the cylinder lock and key..?
you can take it to be replaced it has a recall on them
The ignition switch is usually mounted to the steering column and is operated by a linkage rod. NOTE On column-mounted ignition switches, don't confuse the switch with the lock cylinder and keys. The ignition switch is not normally visible. On some vehicles, the steering column support has to be removed and the column lowered to find the ignition switch. On others, the switch is accessible under the dash. The ignition switch is operated by the key switch. Courtesy of Ford Motor Company. To replace the switch: * Remove the ignition switch wiring harness. * Unbolt it from its position. * Bolt the new switch into position. * Attach the witing harness.
I have a 1997 Toyota Camry. It is leaking anti-frezze. I need to replace the water pump. Do I have to remove and replace timing belts too?
Before you mess with the ignition system check fuses to make sure that your assumption is correct. If it doens't work properly you have replace it. If you decided so before you start working around the wires you have disconnect the battery because of the safety bags. After that remove the panels plastic and metal one which are underneath the steering wheel. When you are done doing that you will be able to get access to ignition switch mounting screws. Remove all screws disconnect the wires. Connect wires in THE RIGHT PLACES to a new ifnition cylinder. Installation is reversed to removal.
Try checking the ignition coil #2. Also check the spark plug and its wire.
